Salman Rushdie’s Memoir


Lermontov meant “A Hero of our Time” to be an ironic title since his hero was far from heroic. Rushdie was not certainly not heroic in all respects, but if anyone deserves the title for the world of literature and free thought at the turn of the 21st century, he is the man. Christopher Hitchens comes in a close second.
