Winter Light

This 1963 film by Ingmar Bergman has to be finest film ever made about Lutheranism for former Lutherans.  I would guess that most active Lutherans would hate it with its totally ineffective preacher, but to me the film perfectly captures the hopeless idiocy of religion in balance with the beauty of the heroic stoicism of the poor people who cannot escape it.
